There was a Marion Orphans Home in Marion but it's now defunct. Not sure when it went out of existence, but the records were stored for a long time in the courthouse until a cleaning job. Story goes that a lady working at the courthouse at the time volunteered to store the records at her home for safekeeping. She subsequently died & the records were lost. Kay in the Indiana Room of the Grant Co. Library in Marion can fill in the details.
My grandfather was in the Home from 1905 to 1909 before going into a foster home. A.M. Elliott of the Home signed a letter concerning my grandfather during that period, but I don't know if he/she headed it up or was the secretary. I have ran Letters to the Editor in the Marion Chronicle Tribune pleading for info on the records to no avail. Perhaps you should do the same. Maybe eventually we'll get lucky.
