Glenna/Fay
Tried to call tonight, but no answer. I know next to nothing about "my Jordan's" I seem to remember one ceusus has them spelled Jourdain. I've also seen it Jordon. Zaida "Molly" BALDWIN is the mother of Guin Frank JORDAN, my great-grandfather. G.F. was born 15 Sep 1865 in Terre Haute IN. He had a brother, John William who some say was born about 1863 in AR. Anthony Lee Rockfeller has done a great job researching Zaida Baldwin's family. John H. Jordan is a name sometimes given for G.F.s father. John H. died in Terre Haute about 1866. Theory is G.F.'s father died during Civil War. Don't know why Zaida went to southwest MO. She's buried in Painter Cemetery, Shell Knob, MO.
Stuart M. Jordan in Olney, MD has some information on this Jordan line even though it isn't his.
Zaida is said to have been a full-blood Cherokee. She was born in SC and married the first time in Coosa, AL. I can't prove or disprove the Cherokee info.
Sorry I can't be more help. I wish I knew more. This line is driving me nuts!!!
Jane
