This winter I gave me DNA to the FamilyTree Project. I did this after years(1955-now) searching for the family of my oldest Woods ancestor, John Woods b. abt 1805,PA. He d.1858,Gibson Co.
So has the Y-DNA helped,..well yes. I have at this point about 156 matches. Some more than others.DNA and all it encompasses are years past my genetics class in college.
So far there has been one good match of a gentleman who ancestors came from VA to TN on to TX. Some how I feel that we will all wind up being the descendants of John Woods and Elizabeth Worsop.
My ancestor, John Woods b. in PA and that is all I know.
At least now I have something to hang my hat on. I would encourage all those who have struggled with the ancestors to do the DNA testing.
