I am hoping that a Harper researcher, familiar with the Harper family of Gibson Co., IN, can help me find the grandparents of the following family.
Livng in Gibson Co., IN, in 1860, are the following, apparently orphaned, children.

Lewis Harper aged 24 born MO, married to Martha J. McDaniel. Martha is enumerated with the family of William Harper, 55, SC and Margaret, 54, Sc on the 1850 census, Gibson Co., IN p. 151.

Rebecca Louise Harper married John G. Davis on July 22, 1855 in Gibson Co., IN

Martha E. Harper married William M. Dill March 1, 1855 in Gibson Co., IN.

Adam C. Harper married Charity F. Dougan March 29, 1866 in Gibson Co., IN.

Dorcas Ann Harper married Simon Utley on Aug 20, 1865 in Gibson Co., IN.

In 1850 this family is enumerated in Dunklin Co., MO
1850 Dunklin Co., MO
Lewis Harper       52       SC       Farmer
Elinor              36       Alabama
Lewis              15       MO
Martha              11       MO
Louisa              11       MO
Adam               9       MO

Dorcas              2       MO
I can find no later listing for Lewis and Elinor.
There is a Lewis Harper in Scott Co., MO in 1840.
1840, MO, Scott, Moreland Twp. p. 39
1 under 5( Lewis Jr)
1 bet. 15-20 ( UNK of an age that he may have left the family by 1850)
1 bet. 40-50 ( Lewis SR)
2 under 5 (Rebecca and Martha)
1 bet. 10-15 ( UNK of an age that she may have left the family by 1850)
1 bet. 20-30 ( Elinor)

On the later cenus returns these children list their parents as having been born in, Father- SC and Mother-Georgia.
With the age of Lewis, on the 1850 census, it is probable that he had been married before Elinor. And there is a probabilty that there are older children that have left the family unit. Since all of the children were in Gibson Co., by 1855, I think they had gone to live with grandparents, uncles, or older siblings.

I would appreciate help, from any researcher ,on who the parents of Lewis Harper b. ca 1798 in SC might be.

Thank you,
