Re: Parentages of Joseph & Mary (HAMILTON) Woods

*Found: (1) The long sought notes of Robert Archer Woods who went to Albemarle County, VA 1907.
(2) A copy of his address to the 600+ descendants at the 1909 reunion..
(3) RA's Woods' research notes willed to his grandson.

It is clear that Joseph never named his father to his family. RA Woods suggests he forgot the "unusual" name of his father. His reasoning for his nomination is part of the address.

*Found: James HAMILTON is named as Mary's father in RA's notes. A map of Albemarle drawn by Edgar Woods, author of "History of Albemarle, Virtginia" places James Hamilton's farm among the lands of Michael Woods of Blair Park, his son Michael Jr and Sr's "brother" John. It appears that Edgar Woods printed information of parentage on the map. His information? Or locating land that RA knew was in the family? It is posssible that it was RA's addition but his additions seem to be an overlay of the current counties in pencil. "LW" is one farm. At this point the docmentation group doesn't know who that is. Study of Edgar Woods book may help.

*Found: 1829 Bible of Samuel Hamilton Woods, youngest son listing all siblings birth dates.

Documentation of all 11 children continues. First generation spouse surnames: DICKSON, EMBREE, HANNAH, HOGUE, WITHERSPOON, & McMILLAN. Marriages in Blount Co, TN & Gibson Co, IN. Eldest sons Dickson marriage locations not yet found.
