Hi! I did the quick search at ancestry.com and found two James Hopkins on the 1840 census,but none on the 1850. I'm sure he is there, but they most likely accidentally omitted his name. Anyway, the first James Hopkins lived in Patoka township and there was listed 1 male 30-40, 1 female 20-30 and 1 female under 5. The second listing was James B. Hopkins who is probably your man since William Reavis was listed a few houses down. Reavis is also in my husband's family too. This second James listed had 1 male 20-30 and 1 female 20-30 and they lived in Columbia township. Hope this helps!
