Christopher Hansel was my 4x great grandfather. He was to have been born in Baden, Germany about 1760 (his daughter, Susannah [Hansel]Girton reported it that way in the 1880 census); but the Roster of Soldiers and Patriots of the American Revolution shows his birthplace as Adams County, Ohio. Christopher married his first wife, Christina in 1792 in Maryland; Christopher married Elizabeth HAYNES (born 1772) between 1801-1807 in Adams County, Ohio; he died 24 June 1825, in Bath Twp, Franklin County, Indiana.

Christopher was supposed to have had two brothers: Jacob Hansel born abt 1779 in Butler Co, OH died February 25, 1841 in Reily Township, Butler County, Ohio & David Hansel born 1770 in Germany, died Abt. 1834 in Raccoon Township, Parke County, Indiana.

Susannah married Jacob Girton, who is of the Girton family originating from New Jersey and settling in Shelby County, Indiana.

If there is anyone out there who is familiar with the Christopher Hansel line from Baden, Germany I'd like to share the information that I do have.
