Hi Paula,

Thank you for your reply. Lancelot died in David City, NE in 1915 and his parents are listed on the death certificate as (blank) Hand and Abigail Vaness. I discovered that his mother is really Abigail Rouse (close match, huh?). His father may be Miller Hand according to the information sent to me from a family tree passed on through a descendant of Miller's brother, Amos.

I am familiar with the Cape May Hands as I think that many of them were cousins of mine.

That I can tell, though I lack lineage goes something like this:

John Hand, 1580 Tunbridge (or Tonbridge?)ENG
John Hand, 1611 Stanstede ENG
Stephen Hand, 1635 Tunbridge ENG
Samuel Hand, 1665 E. Hampton NY
Nehemiah Hand, 1700 Rahway NJ
Daniel Hand, 1738 Somerset NJ
Benjamin Hand, (no dates/places known)
John Hand, d. Union Co. IN 1827
Miller, Hand, (only census info known)
Lancelot Hand, 1835 Connersville IN
Alfred Enic Hand, Tobias NE
Lloyd George Hand, Lincoln NE
(my grandfather)

The Hand families are kind of all over the place, but hopefully I'll find those missing links.

Thanks again and good luck in your searching.
