The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa
Thursday, March l5, l900

The people of our city were greatly shocked last Friday morning to hear of the death of EDDIE HOCKERT, the only son of DANIEL HOCKERT. His death was very unexpected as he had been sick less than a week with pneumonia. EDDIE HOCKERT was born in Pleasantville, Marion County, Iowa, July l3, l867, and died in Davis City, March 9, l900, aged 32 years, 7 months and 26 days. When 2 years old he moved with his father to Wisconsin and in October, l886, they moved to Davis City, where he has since resided. He united with the branch of the Saints' Church at the age of l2 years, and lived a sincere, devoted life. He was one of those rare persons who had no enemies and was a friend to all. He will be greatly missed by his father and sisters and by all who knew him, but they have the assurance that he has gone to a fairer world than this.

The funeral sermon was preached at the residence Sunday at 11 a.m. by Elder Fred Blair, of the L.D.S. Church, and his body laid to rest in the Davis City Cemetery.
