Found a Luther Salsbury & Clarissa on the 1870 Lock Twp, Elkhart Co., IN. - Page 18 (CEnsus page 401)

Family 55

Salsbury, Luther 37 M W Farmer 1300 430 Pennsylvania
Clarissa 27 F W Keeping House Indiana
Buel J. 9 M W
Alice 7 F W
Rhoda 6 F W
Elias 2 M W
Alden P. 7/12 M W

Listed on the same page as - Sally Salsbury & her husband Moreland Albin & their children - Emma, Luther, Ida, and John.

Lewis Salsbury & wife Catharine are listed on page 7 with children Warren, Louisa, Lydia, Mary and Andrew McCoy - 24. Lewis's parents are then listed on Lines 8 & 9 - David Salsbury - 83; and Atossa Salsbury - 70; and their granddaugther - Fannie Vosbury - 22.

I am related to David through his daughter Anna by his first wife - Anna Yates (who died 9/20/1828).

(Dorothy Price Arch has a book "THe Descendants of William Salisbury - 1622-1675) dated 1996. It has lots of pictures and information. I'm trying to find information on Anna's 10 children - she married Dr. Josiah Ward and settled in Ottawa, LaSalle Co., IL until he deserted her and the children around 1862 and started a new family with a young widow - Adelia (nee Potter) Van Tiffin. I think Anna moved to Elkhart Co to be around her father - until she died in 1866. Four of her children were 12 & under and I haven't been able to find who took them in (Ida, Anna M. (Mary?), Henry, and Fannie Ward). They also had an older sister named Hannah Malissa but I haven't been able to find her married name. Two of the other older sisters married between 1867 & 1869 in Elkhart - Hattie m. James Lake & Aurelia married George Pitman.)

If anyone has any information on Anna Ward & her 10 children - please contact me directly at mamaw87@hotmail.com or lintisam@fidnet.com

Thanks. Linda Rhoades, Ava, MO
