Thank you so much for the message. Yes this is the same Joseph Steele Cowan m to Phoebe Anderson Byrd. They had nine childern with Jane Melissa Cowan being the sixth child born 1836, information per the 1850 IN census. Of course until your message I did't know the middle name had only the initial M. Jane was married to Peachy C Messick. If you have any additional information about them would appreciate it. I in turn will send information if I have what you might need.
