I am searching for the death date of William Rice (born 1800 in Otsego County, NY) married Lucy Lemaster (born 1807 in KY--also don't know her death date) on August 17, 1825 in Scott County Indiana. They had 5 children:
Hester, born 1828
David, born 1831
Harriet, born 1838
Lucinda, born 1840 (my g-grandmother)
Minerva, born 1844

William's date of death is sometimes given as 8 Feb 1847 but that is the date on which his 17 year old son David petitioned in Scott County to have his uncle Giles Rice appointed as his guardian. William must have died by then but he is not among those buried in the Rice cemetery in Scott County, IN.

I think this family was in Decatur for the 1840 census:
1840 Decatur County, Indiana
William Rice (also William Rices in Clay, Monroe, Ripley, Whly, Mont. Fountain and Pike Counties)
1 male aged 5-10 (David )
1 male aged 30-40 (William, born btw 1800-1810)
2 females under 5 (Harriet and possible Mary Jane?)
1 female aged 10-15 (Hester)
1 female aged 30-40 (Lucy age 33)

Then in 1850 the family without William, with Lucy as Deah of Household) are living in Indianapolis.
1850 Centre Township, Indianapolis, Marion County
Lucy Rice 43 KY
David Rice 19 IN merchant
Hester A. Rice 21 IN
Harriet Rice 12 IN
Lucinda Rice 9 IN
M Rice 6 female IN

I can trace Lucy to the 1870 census in Scott County but I don't know when or where she died either. My g-grandmother Lucinda married Joel Doolittle of Decatur county on 30 Jan 1860.
