I am researching the John Wheeldon (1774-1859) and Catherine Vial (or Veal) Wheeldon (1776-1867) family who were listed in Jackson Twp. in the 1850 Federal Census of Decatur Co., IN on page 123a as age 76 and 73, respectively. Their daughter, Angeline, age 40, was listed as living with them as well as two children, Stephen Fortenbury, age 15, and Sally Fortenbury, age 10.
I also found two other Wheeldon families listed in the 1850 Decatur Co. Census:
James Wheeldon, age 52, Farmer, and his wife, Celia, age 48, were listed in Sandcreek Twp. on page 143a. Other Wheeldon members of their household were James F., age 27, Lydia, age 18, Nancy C., age 16, Mary C., age 13, Rebecca M., age 10, John H., age 8, and Mahala A., age 6.
John Wheeldon, age 29, Physician, Julia Wheeldon, age 31, Newbury Wheeldon, age 43, Physician, and Mahala Wheeldon, age 43, were listed in Greensburg/Washington Twp. on pages 11a and 11b. They were listed as living in the household of Marain S. Douglas, age 26, Carpenter.
Does anyone know the relationship between the three families?
