I am the GGGGgrandaughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Champ. Both were found listed in Decatur, Indiana on the 1850 census, age 88 & 73 or 78 respectively. I suspect that they died there. I also believe that other grandsons or brothers may have also moved from KY with them. Although I have yet to find grandson, William Champ (1823-1912) on the census, articles written about him indicate that he migrated with his grandparents between 1836-1842; he married Melissa McEwen in Mahaska County, Iowa June 23, 1844, organized a Masonic Lodge at Martinsberg, Iowa (was Master 1845-1857) the supposedly joined the William Morrow Party wagon train to come west to Washington State.

William Champ's children are: Elizabeth, John Hager, Robert Allen, Willis, Jackson Lee, Catherine & James Marshall.

I would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about these Champs.
