In response to your inquiry about Margaret Cross of the 1850 census. This Margaret Cross was my GG Grandmother. Her husband was Cyrus Cross, who died in 1847, by the hand of another man. Theodore Cross, their son, was my G Grand-father, who married Harriett McMullen. Their son James was my Grandfather, he married Florence Aminda Rumsey.
Margaret Cross's maiden name was Knox or Nock and I see a connection in the Reuben Nock and Data Gould children. My Margaret Cross was born in December 1803. I have it as the 3rd and the Reuben/Gould date is the 10th. I don't have any verified proof on these dates or names, other than what was passed down over the years. I know that the Cyrus Cross came from Maine and I have the original Land Deed signed by John Q. Adams for the old Cross farm in Dearborn County, IN. The old farm cemetary has several head stones, but I did not record the names and it has been 25 years since I was there.
I'm hoping that you might have some info concerning the Cross name, which I haven't had much success locating. I would be most appreciative on any other details concerning the Knox or Nock name.
I know that this is a late follow up, however, I would be more than happy to relate what info that I have. Please respond so that we can trade more specifics.
