Anne I wish I could help you as I have quite as frustrating a search. The Thomas Bailey I am searching for was the husband of Abigail Tibbetts who had sons Henry Russell Bailey b. 1833 and George Washington Bailey b. 1838 both in Dearborn County, Indiana. I have all of their descendants but nothing further on their father. His name was most probably Thomas and the family relocated to Van Buren County, Iowa. Abigail was listed as head of household in 1850 Census. I know of no James in this family. There is another family of Bailey's in the Aurora area of Dearborn County, that might be the ones you are looking for. Lewis was the name of the father I believe and he had several sons.

Louise
