Surnames: BECKET, MASTERS, MOOTS, SCOTT
I am trying to determine the parentage of Francis M. MASTERS, b. about 1848 Indiana.
Searching the census at ancestry.com I can not find him in 1850. However:
1860 US Census, Indiana, Daviess County, Barr township, page 771, dwelling 265; Francis MASTERS, age 12, born Indiana is shown in the household of Gabriel MOOTS.
1870 US Census, same location, page 161, dwelling 330, in the dwelling of John BECKET; Francis M. MASTERS, 22.
1872. Indiana Marriage Collection at ancestry.com: Francis M. MASTERS m. Alice G. SCOTT, 8 Apr 1872, Daviess County.
1880 US Census, Indiana, Daviess County, Montgomery, dwelling 215; Francis M. MASTERS, 32, constable, born Indiana, father born Indiana (can't make out where mother born); Alice, 30, wife, born Kentucky, mother born Virginia; Elizabeth, 6, dau; Laura, 3, dau.
Alice SCOTT shows in 1870 apparently with her widowed mother and siblings:
1870 US Census, Indiana, Daviess County, Montgomery Station, dwelling 10; Elizabeth SCOTT, 56, born Virginia; children all born Kentucky; Mary, 22; Samuel, 20; Alice, 18; James,16.
