Tiptin Shields Guthrie In Logansport

My great grandmother was also a Shields descended from Rhoda and Joshua Tipton. She was Arnet Shields daughter - Matilda or Martha (I think they used either back then). Any information about this family would be very helpful to me. My grandfater Harvey W. Guthrie came from Logansport Indiana. He was the son of Matilda Shields and Thomas C. Guthrie (evidently two of Arnet Shields kids married Guthries and looking for more information regarding them also). My father Robert Guthrie who is 80 years old, was in Logansport when he was a teenager. He said he has many cousins and relatives in Logansport who were Shields. I would love to connect with them.

Interestly enough, I recently went through a strong box in my faters garage. He has many old papers from the Joshua Tipton and I think (need to verify) Joshua Shields who were in business together. The name of the business (and I think it was a general store) was Tipton Shields.

I also have a deed of sale - (original hand written) where a John Tipton was deeding land to a man named Farquar. The deed is dated 1818. Could this be General John Tipton. I don't know when he lived.

Thanks for your help. I would love to connect with any Shields from Logansport. I have quite a few pictures of Logansport around the turn of the century.
