The George Stanley you are referring to may be the son of the George Stanley who came to Indiana from South Carolina in 1813. George and his wife Elizabeth had 12 children.
Rebecca, Rhoda, Margaret, Eda, Nancy, David, George, William, John, Lewis, Samuel, James. David was my g-grandfather. James and his son who is also named James B. were sheriffs of Cass Co. during the mid-1800's to early 1900's. I have more info on this family. How old was George Stanley on the census you found? One more side note. This family initially entered the state in Fayette Co. and then around 1844 came to Cass Co.
