Friday, December 20 1907
Surname: Wyatt or Wiatt
Hugh Wyatt of Thorntown Over 100 Years Old

Hugh Wyatt of Thorntown, who is one hundred and nine years old, and is thought to be the oldest man in Indiana, is a brother to Samuel Wiatt, a former resident of Jamestown. Hugh Wiatt also lived in Jamestown where he was quite well known by many of our citizens. The old man is said to be dying.
He was born in Shelby County, Kentucky, October 21, 1798. Mr. Wiatt served as a soldier in the Black Hawk and Mexican Wars and draws a pension for services rendered in the latter. He formerly lived in Morgan and Hendricks Counties, but has been a citizen of Thorntown for several years. He has always been a great consumer of tobacco and up to within the last few days used it regularly. He is the father of several children, all of whom, except two are dead.

Note from Janet Price; I am posting this story for others. The surname is spelled as Wyatt and Wiatt in this newspaper article. I am not related to the subjects.
