Michel/Mickle in Benton County

Rachel Michel married Thomas Jefferson Wineman on 3 October 1883 in Benton County, Indiana. They had two children: John Clinton Wineman, born 1885, and Willard Wineman, born 1886 -- both born in Benton County, Indiana. Who were Rachel's parents? Was her name Michel, Mickle, Mickel, or some variation thereof? Thomas Wineman was probably born in Brown County, Indiana in 1858. His parents, John Wineman and Minerva Burdett, were in the town of Hamblen, Brown County, at the time of the 1860 census. Ten years later, a 15-year-old Rachel Michel was living with the family of Stephen B. and Olive Cook in Hamblen. Was this the same Rachel Michel?

Rachel probably died shortly after the birth of her son Willard, or she was divorced. In 1892 Thomas Wineman remarried Rosa Ryser and went on to have several more children.

Please be in touch if anyone knows of a Michel/Mickle/Mickel family in the Benton County area with a daughter named Rachel born about 1855-60.
