Burton & Graves
Some Graves family members were reportedly living "near Raub" in NW Benton County, Indiana. Now, I have recently found information indicating residence of these ancestors at York, Benton county, Indiana on the 1880 census for the following persons:
(FHL Film 1254266 National Archives Film T9-0266 Page 252C.)William Burton (40), wife Sarah Burton (41), 5 male children named Fred (16), Hovey (14), Charles (12), John (9), & Frank (2), grandfather (89, father of Sarah Burton) James Graves, and a servant named Ida Meseles (12).
Sarah Graves Burton (b. 1839, husband William Burton)
Parents:James Graves & Mary Coxall Graves
Sarah had siblings named
William Graves (b. 1836, wife Hannah Yardy)
Mary Graves (b. 1829, husband James Ellwood)
Ann Graves (b. 1825, husband James Barnes)
Anthoney Graves (b. abt 1828, wife Mary Ann Thorp)
Elizabeth Graves (b. abt. 1827, m. ? Clayton)
John Graves (b. 1842, wife unknown)
I would like to find 3 things -
1.I would like to have a copy of the census page confirming the above census information - if anyone has the ability to find it at little to no cost.Due to visual problems, I cannot read microfilm reels very well anymore.Contact me by e-mail if you need my snail address.
2.I would like to know if any of these people remained in Benton County, and were buried there.I would like to find the location of the burial sites of any of these relatives.
James Graves is reported to have died about July 31, 1887.His wife was Mary Coxall Graves, but she may have died in England (1866) before the family migrated to America.
3.I would like to have a copy of the naturalization papers on anyone by the name of Graves, Burton, Barnes, Ellwood, or Clayton, between the dates of 1860 and 1880.William Graves reportedly attained his naturalization in Benton County, Indiana on February 28, 1861.
Thank you for helping.
