The word “genealogical” caught my eye while reading this newspaper. Interesting article and I thought I’d post it in case it helps anybody with their line 96 years later. (This isn’t my relative).

Fayette, IA, newspaper (May 26, 1904) (paraphrased)
James Elbert Robertson died May 22, 1904, at his Fayette home at age 83y 1m 3d. He lived in Fayette 54 years. He was born in Bath Co., KY, the 12th child out of 17. He married Feb. 1, 1842, to Elizabeth J. Alexander, daughter of Robert Alexander, one of the builders of the first college building here. From IN, James arrived in Fayette County, IA, on Sept. 13, 1849. Survived by 7 of 10 children (it tells their names and other details) (obituary unclear if his wife was still living).
The subject of the preceding sketch (the obituary) traced his family back to reputedly English origin, coming to America in the late 17th century or very early 18th century. His (James’) great grandfather Drury Robertson was born in VA and moved to NC where he died. His grandfather William Robertson was born Feb. 2, 1754, VA, and lost his arm while serving as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. William married Rebecca House Dec. 25, 1774. John H. Robertson, father of the deceased (James), was born Jan. 10, 1784. He married Anna Burton in 1804. They moved to Bath Co., KY, in 1812, and then on to Benton Co., IN, in 1835, where he (John) died Oct. 9, 1878, at age 94 years.
