Margaret, wife of Robert Marshall, died Mar. 7, 1864, aged 72 yrs., buried at Mt. Healthy Cemetery in Bartholomew Co. No marker for Robert; he sold his farm Mar. 14, 1867, not found on 1870 census, so probably died Bartholomew abt 1868. No estate record--he'd already disposed of his land.
Alexander McCandless Marshall m1 Elizabeth Jane Reeser, 28 Mar. 1843, Knox Co., OH. She d. 15 Sept. 1853, buried at McLaughlin Cemetery, also Bartholomew Co., not far from Mt. Healthy. Several families had early burials at McLaughlin and later used Mt. Healthy. McLaughlin is high on a hilltop over Waymansville, no road access and in poor condition.
Alexander m2 Mary Malinda Ellenwood Griffith, 2 Dec. 1858, in Bartholomew Co. She m1 James J. Griffith, 17 Apr. 1850 in Jennings Co., next co. south of us. Their son James Griffith b. abt 1855, living in Clay Co. IN 1880, as was his mother, Mary Marshall, and grandmother, Fannie Ellenwood.
Other Marshalls probably connect, but no proof:
David L. Marshall, d. 11 Sept. 1861, 38Y 5M 28D, also buried at McLaughlin. Expect he is the same as LUTHER Marshall, in Bartholomew Co. 1860. Some of his small children at McLaughlin also.
Then there are two Marshall girls who married before 1850, probably sisters, but again, no proof:
Martha Marshall, b. abt 1825 OH, m. William Howbert, 1 Jan. 1845, not found after 1850. Howberts also lived in the Waymansville area.
Sarah Marshall, b. 4 Feb. 1827 OH, m. John Linson 18 Jan. 1849. Linsons also in that neighborhood. They moved to Clinton Co. IN; Sarah died there 23 July 1876. Could NOT find them on 1860 or 1870 census!
