Nathan D. Carothers was b. 28 Oct. 1868, probably Brown Co. Indiana, s/o James and Martha Jane (Bailey) Carothers. James (1826-1912) and Martha (1828-1916) were m. 11 Apr. 1844 in Cass Co. MO, though both were born in Indiana. They were residing in Brown Co. Indiana by 1870, but apparently went back west to Illinois. Ancestry.com says James d. abt. 1912 Illinois, and Martha d. 18 Feb. 1916 Brown Co., both probably buried in Illinois.

Nathan m. 9 Dec. 1888 in Brown Co. Indiana to Lucinda Hatton (1873-1897), d/o William H. and Margaret (Mobley) Hatton. William & Margaret m. 10 July 1869, Brown Co. Nathan m2 Annie Hasgman 11 Mar. 1900, after Lucinda's death. He died 14 Dec. 1943, Indianapolis, buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Brown Co., with Lucinda. (His name and birthday--but not date of death--are also on his second wife's stone in Jackson Co. IN.
