Dear Donna,

Thank you for the information. Julia Ann BEATTY married three times:

Thomas B. McQueen on November 3, 1853 in Bartholomew County, IN
Absolom C. Darke (Drake?) on January 21, 1858 in " " " (my great great grandfather)
Nathan F. Carter on April 21, 1867 in " " ".

Nathan remarried after Julia Ann died. I found him, his wife and new children on the 1880 U.S. Census in Indianola, Red Willow, Nebraska.

Have you actually seen her grave? Since she was my great great grandmother I am just curious to know anything and everything about her. I can't imagine what became of her two children after she died. Darius "Ed" Darke was born January 9, 1859 and James Clarence Darke was born August 16, 1861, both in Bartholomew County, IN. I didn't see them in Nebraska with her third husband Nathan Carter. They were not with her first husband, Thomas Hayes MCQueen and his wife Mary M. QUILLEN and their children, also in Nebraska in 1880 (Grant, Kearney, Nebraska).

I could not find Darius or James anywhere on the 1880 census. The brothers were in Oregon in the early 1890's where they married their wives. Darius "Ed" Darke (Drake?) and James Clarence Darke (Drake?) became known as Darius "Ed" Edmonds and James Clarance Edmonds. Darius Edmonds married Anna Drescher in about 1892 in West Lynn, near Portland, Oregon. All their children had the Edmonds name. James Clarence Edmonds married Emma Mary Alderman July 1, 1894 in Woods, Tillamook, Oregon and their children also had the Edmonds surname. I have no idea what happened to these two brothers between 1876, when their mother died, and 1892 when the first brother married. ANY information on these people in Bartholomew County, Indiana will be greatly appreciated.

Sharon "Shane" Oxley
great granddaughter of Darius "Ed" Edmonds
