Hi Debora,
I cannot believe I stumble up on this web- site with yours and others comments/information on the Allen County Children’s home. My name is Elmira Gage; it was Elmira Laster at the time my sister Crystal and I was in the Allen County Children home at the time your mother was a house mother. I remember Mrs. Watson very well, as I remember you also have a brother.
Your mother took me and your brother was there as well, to my first cheer leader tryouts at Shawnee Jr. High school. I sometimes think back on those days (and there were many) that I was in the Children Home. Your mother was a blessing to all of us girls. I do remember Tommy Lou her husband Chuck and Mr. McCloskey. Your mother took a lot of personal care with me at that time, by just being there and having a positive influence. I look back and am truly grateful to have had her in my life. Please give her a hug for me.
