I'm glad to be able to supply some of the information you're looking for on the Myers Family.

Danny and Anna Myers are on another branch of our Gwinner Tree, but I can supply an outline of the family from the Family Group sheet and obituaries that a third cousin of mine from the area of Salina, Kansas, sent me a few years ago. I am in the 4th generation of Gwinners in America, descended from a tanner, Gottlieb Henry Gwinner (20 Oct 1783 - Aug 1866) and his wife Terese _____ (ca. 1801 - 30 Aug 1885), both also born in Stuttgart. They emigrated to Pennsylvania in about 1820, and settled in the Huntingdon - Blair - Indiana - Cambria county area. John and Elizabeth (Moyer) Gwinner moved on to Ashland County OH about 1870, my great grandfather (John's brother) came to Missouri about 1868 and settled at the railhead west of Jefferson City at Tipton, working as a blacksmith, building wagons.

The information that I have on Daniel Myers:

Daniel W. Myers, son of Frederick and Christena (sic) Myers who came to Adams Co IN in 1851.
Born: 2 July 1849, Wayne County OH.
Died: Sun, 3 Oct 1915, Decatur, Adams Co. IN, of Bright's disease.
Burried: Fri, 8 Oct 1915, Decatur Cemetery, Adams Co. IN.

Married: 23 Nov 1880 (3 Nov in Ellsworth KS paper) to:

Anna Gwinner, dau of John and Elizabeth (Moyer) Gwinner, of Ashland OH.
Born: 3 Mar 1856, Blair Co. PA.
Died Sun, 10 Apr 1921, in hospital in Ellsworth KS, home of her brother Joseph R. Gwinner, six weeks after a fall in which she broke her hip. She had been living for about a year with her brother Martin M. Gwinner in Dodge City KS.
Burried: Thu, 14 Apr 1921, Decatur Cemetery, Adams Co. OH.

They had 4 children, 3 of whom died in young:
1. Henry Myers, died age 9mo 5days
2. Christina Myers, died age 6mo
3. Jessie Myers, died age 4mo 26days
4. Florence Myers (Mrs John Erwin), died 2 Nov 1919 in Fort Wayne IN

Daniel and Anna had no grandchildren.

Daniel Myers was a school teacher in Decatur for about 6 years, a lumber dealer with his brother David Myers for about 9 years, was connected with the woolen mills, and farmed, all in or near Decatur. For 6 years, they moved to Tennessee, where his was in the lumber business. In his later years he worked as a contractor, and he and Anna owned and operated the Park Hotel in Decatur. Two brothers survived Daniel- William J. Myers of Decatur, and James Myers of Shawnee OK. A sister Anna and three brothers, Fred, Henry, and David died in later years, and there were several who passed away many years before.

Anna Myers remains were returned to Decatur by train and taken to the W. J. Myers home on 5th Street, from which the funeral was held.

It's interesting to note that there were two William Jackson Gwinners in the family of Anna's brother Joe Gwinner in Kansas, the first a son who died in France in WWI, and the second (undoubtedly named for his uncle) in the next generation. We met and talked with him for a few hours in Colorado Springs about 10 years ago. A very interesting fellow who had retired after a career in the Army.

If I had a scanner, I would enclose a copy, but I have mentioned about all except the clubs and church.

Myron W. Gwinner, Tulsa OK. mwgwinner@gbronline.com
