Bonnie, have you any idea if or where I could find information about families who emigrated from Ulster, Ireland (via Belfast) in 1798?I have tried several links that list ships, etc.I never see any for the 1790's.
My ancestor was Patrick Todd who was in South Carolina by the 1800 census. His last child was born in Ireland in 1795.They were ARP Presbyterians in SC.DNA has linked his descendant to Mary Todd Lincoln's ancestor who immigrated before 1798 so that the genetic link occurred in Ireland.
BTW - Patrick named his first son Archibald and the next John. His wife was Janet Carmichael.
I have seen an extract of his application for naturalization. It was filed in 1810 on which he stated that he had been in SC for seven years and was born in Ireland.
Thank you,
Ann
