Thanks for responding... I appreciate it.
They came to the states before 1930, but after 1923. So I have missed the census years.
I will look into the St. Albans List, I didn't know about it.
Immigration and Naturalization has no record of her becoming naturalized. I tried every spelling, sound, variation. Her name wasn't her name. I know the naturalization laws changed in the 1920's, she fell in the middle of the changes. In addition, she was uneducated, unable to speak English, and went from her father's home to an abusive marriage.
I new it would be hard to get a birth certificate~having a 'real' name is important :). In all honesty, I would expect to find this issue with generations back, not my grandmother. My mother has tried to help me, but she is limited on what she knows. The family didn't speak of it's history. They really did assimilate into America, and abandoned most of its heritage.
There are sibling, and I am working on getting their real names and not nicknames. Very difficult when nobody talks/writes.
I do thank you again for your input. It is very fun to find a new direction. I am off to the St. Albans list.
