Help with INS Form G-639, what can I get from it?
I need information on exactly what I can expect to get or ask for on the INS Form G-639.
My Grandparents came from Poland in 1913. They were single at time of entry. I know what towns they were both born in from Poland. I know the dates of their arrival to the U.S. and what ports they left from and came into. I have their marriage License.
What I don't have is their fathers names and mothers maiden names. I don't know how many brothers or sisters my grandparents might of had from either grandparent.
To the best of my knowledge they were not Naturalized. I was told that if they were still alive in 1940 "which they were" than I could fill out the INS Form G-639 to get their information.
The question is if I filed this form what kind of information would I be getting? Would their parents names be listed on this form? Maybe copies of their birth certificates?
Does anyone have experience filing this G-639 Form, and what kind of information can I expect to get?
I know they had to give information about themselves to come here, because a friend had his wife come from Germany and she had to give a lot of info.Maybe they were'nt that stringant in 1913 as in 1971 but I sure would like to know.
They came and lived out their lives in Cleveland, Ohio. To what address would I file this form to?
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks You
