Mary Ann,
Well.... NYC was not the only Port of Entry.Prior to 1892 Castle Garden was the immigrant processing station for NYC and after Dec 1892 to 1924 Ellis Island was the processing station. After 1924 processing was done at US Embassies and Consulates overseas and Ellis Island was used only as a place of detention for about the next 30 years or so.The next most common POE was Boston and also Philadephia and Baltimore were used as well some came through Canadian POEs.
Here are some PISKURIC that I found at Ellis Island that were mis-transcribed
Rata Piskuvic Dec 09, 1912 from Ribnik father Miko destination Johnstown to husband Pavao Acutally Kata PISKURIC
Also there is a Roza arr 1912 listing Miko as her father destination Johnstown
Pishuric,Pavao Ribnik, Hungary 190718
Piskuirc,Mijo Ribnik 190134
I believe the place you are talking about is MiĊĦinci
Do you mean you are visting Cleveland in Dec?If so let me know when you are here and if you haven't been to the Croatian Museum in Eastlake I'll show you around.
Robert
