Scots immigrant Joseph Rainey Robertson
I am trying to find anything on the Scots immigrating to the USA in the period of about 1775 to 1795.
I am looking for a Joseph Rainey Robertson, who I belive, from his marriage to Susannah Johnson, 26 Nov 1795, in Madison Co. KY to have been born c1775 +/- 3years,
"guestimating" from his marriage date and figuring him to be 20-21 years old.As I say, this is just a "Guestimate"
This gave me a possible in a "Joseph Robertson", with a birth date of 11 Nov 1774, in Hamilton, Lanark SCT. Father James Robertson, Mother Violet Hamilton, married 08 Nov, 1756 Bothe, and the marriage from Hamilton, Lanark SCT.
I have no Idea when, where, how or why he left scotland, nor where, when or how he arrived here in the USA. (or if he went to Ireland or England, etc., during the immigration).
I have looked at what passenger lists I have found with nothing that I think to be him.
I recently got the results on my 37 marker DNA test, and thru that have contacts with some other Robertson's, who I match, who have ancestors in Virginia, but at an earlier time period.(Possibly cousins, Uncles, brothers who came earlier and encourage the realatives to "come on over)" to my Joseph.
In addition, I find that I match Hamiltons about 3:1 over the Robertsons.Apparently there was possibly a female (Widow?) Hamiton with a child, who was raised with the Robertson name, or some other reason that my all-male line devolves from the Hamiltons.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated, and I will share what I have on Joseph, Susannah and their 8 known children, of whome Johnson Robertson is my direct ancestor.
Email is preferred, as I am posted in so many places that I don't get back to any one place very often.
Thank you, John>>>[email protected]<<<
