Richard,
From the Emihamn database of CD Emigranten (the Emigrant CD), which covers emigrations from Swedish ports from about 1869-1950:
First name: OSCAR
Last name: HESELIUS
Age: 0(I doubt he was actually that young. :-) Apparently his age wasn't included in the police registers from which this cd was made; Emigrants were supposed to register before leaving the country, and this has nothing to do with problems with the law.)Gender: M
Parish: WOXNA (Voxna is the modern spelling; where he was living when he decided to emigrate)County: X (Gävleborg)
Port: GĂ–TEBORG
Date: 1882 11 24 (date of registering with the police to leave Sweden)
Destination: NEW YORK
Fellows: NEJ (Nej = no. He traveled alone on his ticket.)
Source: 21:735:18492
I have no idea if that is the right Heselius. Many Swedes emigrated using a patronymic name and not a surname such as Heselius, and many others emigrated from Norway, Germany, Denmark, etc. and not from Sweden.
If you have further questions or comments about your Swedish ancestor, I suggest that you post on the board for Sweden.
