Hi Preben,
Usually, there is a notation on the passenger manifest when a passenger has been detained. You then go to the list of detainees and see whether the person was admitted or denied entry. However, I do not see any such notation on the March 31, 1915 manifest for "Emma Hagensen" on the ship Frederick VIII. See if this link works for you to see her manifest: http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipManifest.asp?MID=10860469730035588416&pID=100347150258&lookup=100347150258&show=\\192.168.100.11\images\T715-2403\T715-24030248.TIF&origFN=\\192.168.100.11\IMAGES\T715-2403\T715-24030247.TIF
I will go through the pages of that ship manifest and see if she is on the "detained aliens" or "held for special inquiry" lists where detainees were written, and get back to you.
Best regards,
Sophia
