I'm only guessing based on read'g many manifests I've read show'g that a new arrival was asked if they had a ticket to continue their journey to the final destination i.e. on a connect'g means of transit e.g. train, canal boat, being met by relative etc. which would be indicated. I am think'g your subject purchased a ticket thru a general express agency & the xxxx is the ticket no. Would the letter C. stand for Canada or California?
