Trying to find gg gf Wilhelm (William) Schwager in Germany

Trying to trace my gg grandfather back to Germany so I can continue my research. The best information I have from 4 US censuses is that he was born in March 1829 in Saxony/Prussia/Germany depending on the census you read. His parents were born there too. He immigrated in 1850 according to one census. I still have him alive at 71 yo in the 1900 census, but no record of his death. His wife's name on the 1870, 1880, and 1900 census is named Catharine (spelled differently on all 3 censuses), also from Saxony, immigrating in 1867. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. Edward Klein
