Abram Haynor Alsace-Lorraine To America.....
I am looking to find some information on Abram Haynor (spelling varies) who has been handed down to me as being born in Alsace-Lorraine, France sometime around 1765. He may or may not have been taken prisoner by the Germans during a war?? I'm aware that Alsace-Lorraine was a much contested area between France and Germany at that time, so maybe that is what was meant by "war"?
It is also handed down that he came to America as, or became, a Hessian soldier during the time of the American Revolutionary War.....that he was thus considered a hired soldier for England, and when the United States won the war he was sent to a prison North of Syracuse, New York, being released after about six months. What IS apparent is that one way or another he came to the United States, at least by, if not earlier than, about 1792, as one of his sons, Henry, was born in New York State about 1793, seemingly in the Saratoga/Victory Mills area of New York. It is said that Abram had several children, as far as I know all boys.
Henry was married to Roxy M. Clements, also of New York....perhaps a daughter of Albert Clements of Victory Mills, New York, in January of 1824.
Does anyone have any leads I might follow, or have a trace of Abram (or Henry, or Roxy) that I can follow?
