Naturalization -- 1845? Ellis

First, if I can look these up myself, please give me a hint how to do that.

Else, I am looking for the record of naturalization for Charles Joseph Ellis, probably in 1845, when he would've been 2 years old. Parents: Robert and (probably) Mary. Siblings: Elizabeth, Emma and Georgina.

There is a possibility he may not have immigrated until after 1851, though, based on English census records. I'm trying to determine which is correct.

In 1868 he was in Louisville, Ky., getting married.

Thanks in advance,
