Blanchard from Salcourt(?), etc., Switz. to Wayne Cty., Ohio, 1850s-1860s
I only have one Blanchard - Alcide, 1836?-1902 - ancestor; he came from Switzerland to wayne County, Ohio in 1854. However, I've 2 queries.
1. Where is Salcourt, Switzerland; it's the region he's said to be from and I can't see to locate it in Switzerland. there's a Salcourt, but it's in France.
2. I'm just curious, because there seem to be a *lot* of Swiss that settled into the area (Paint Township, Wayne County, Ohio) right about the same time; this seems more like something that would just be fun to see.Why rural Ohio? I'd picture them wanting a more mountainous region like home, though I can see, if they wanted good, flat, plentious land, Ohio's got it there! And, who was first? that's more a fun question for those who have family history that know about letters home encouraging others, etc.
I understand if that's not findable, but it's easy to see how someone withalot more time than i can get curious.
