Lets backtrack. What US documents do you have on your ancestor? Does he show up in 1930 census? If yes, does it say Na-naturalized, Al-alien or Pa-first paper? Those documents should have a place of birth. If he was not naturalized and lived pass 1940 than did you locate his Alien Registration Form? Did he fill out a Draft Registration Form? Did he have social security numbers? http://ssdi.rootsweb.com You need to establish his place of birth in "old country" to proceed with the research.
