I am the Township Historian for Aberdeen Township, NJ. Joseph Imlay was the son of Elisha and Mary Imlay. Joseph had a sister Eupahme who married a Walling. Elisha was buried in one of the churchyards in Cheesequake; from his gravestone we learn he was a son of Peter and Euphame Imlay. Peter was from Upper Freehold Township. He was a miller, and came to the Matawan Aberdeen area because he was involved with the John Burrowes milling operation. A mill for hulling barley was constructed along Mohingson Brook in the present Aberdeen Township, on the present Church Street. I don't have my files in front of me right now; I will get back with more details.
