Margaret,My ancestor, Thomas, Solomon's brother, is as far "back" as I have been able to go reliably and with records.I think I have found almost as much on the three siblings as on Thomas.Anything you want that I have found is yours for the asking.Working STRICTLY on SUPPOSITION, without a single fact to support my thoughts, I think 'Unknown' Iams, father of Solomon, Peter, Thomas and Mary Ann may be a descendant of George Iiams and his wife Elizabeth Basford.I have read references to George's descendants going south before the Revolutionary War.Also, I have asked a couple of young Imes descendants in Ohio to look for the younger Iams siblings and their mother on the 1820 census in Lawrence Co., Ohio in hopes we can find her given name.Thomas' son Harmon wrote that the family first (1810) settled on Paddy Creek, and a few years later built a log cabin on the Low Gap between the John Lynd place on Buffalo and where Archy Murphy lived on Solida.(I can find both Buffalo and Solida on current maps of Ohio;their headwaters are less than a mile apart.) Harmon Imes' "Reminiscences" were published in the Ironton Register in four installments: March 2, 9, 16 and 23, 1899.He had earlier (1890) written to the editor of the Register, requesting information on his uncle Solomon's descendants because he (Harmon) had lost track of them after the Thomas Imes family moved to Illinois in 1848.Harmon said his uncle Solomon had died of cholera about 1832.
