It may well be that the William you are looking for was baptised in Compton, Berks on 16 Sep 1610. If this is true then the following details will be useful.
All in Compton.

Although two names appear for Richard's wife the nearness of spelling for both can easily be a misinterpretation of what was originally written down.
Further information can be found on Dave Curtin's website (http://members.aol.com/dcurtin1/gene) where he has copied from the book "Planters of the Commonwealth" the passenger list of the ship Confidence that sailed in 1638 and which included William and Barbara, and his brother John. Both were shoemakers and both came from Nether Wallop in Hants. Also of interest is that the list also includes John Stephens, his wife, son and mother along with probably his brother William, and all of whom came from Caversham.
