Illsley Family Genealogy Forum

Hello Nancy
I read you last message you posted I have an aunt who is 89 says that her Grandfather (MY GGfather) was Joseph Illsley (nickname Jasper) born abt 1852 who was married to Alice Davenport. Inn keepers At the Blue Bell. She remembers He had a brother Samuel who lived At church Gresley and another Brother Harry who also lived in Blackfordby and sister who went to lived in Daybrook Nottingham unfortunately no dates to back this up also she thinks that Joseph (my ggf) had Gilbert I his name and it was a surname and this family where wine merchants so may be your John Thomas Gilbert Illsley could be the son on Samuel and may have been a cousin to my Grandfather William Davenport Illsley. But obviously I will have to verifier this if poss. However I have bee in touch with a Pauline Illsley who is sending me a copy of her Family tree and hopefully this may be also be of interest. There was a family tree I found on the net with my grandfather and other Illsley family members in which is www.bigpond.net.au
Joseph farther (MYgg.Gf) His Father was William Illsley Born abt 1824 burial 1882(MYggggranfarther)St Margaret’s Church Blackfordby Married to A Ann seal 24th Jan St Helens Ashby-de-la-zouch. Then William therefore could be your GGGGfarther that’s if I’ve calculated correctly with the generations. However, it is interesting you say the censors shows you grand farther residing at The Blue bell and I know My GG had a son called John But he died in infancy maybe. So may be he could have been named after your GG farther. I will let you know of any more info if I come across.
