Christian Advocate and Journal, Aug.18, 1864. OBITUARY NOTICE REV. HIRAM ILIFF, son of E.W. and MARY ILIFF, and grandson of REV. BENJAMIN ILIFF, a pioneer Methodist itinerant in this part of the state, died June 5, at the house of Rev. Jacob Hoff, Sergeantsville, N.J.,aged 26. In 1861 he preached his first sermon- it left a lasting impression on the minds of the hearers. From this time he grew in gifts, grace, and usefullness. His health[ never robust ] failed in the third year of his ministry, consumption seized him as its prey. His end was peace. Surrounded by the ministeries of loving friends, and sustained by the presence and smile of his Redeemer, he said " I fear no evil, my sky is without a cloud". On the bosom of his God he closed his eyes on earth...Fletcher Lummis. ----- [ this is not my family, only post these wonderful old articles from such an interesting Journal.] Notify Administrator about this message?
