I have just started trying to sort out where I fit into the Iley family picture....and I was able to access the UK 1881 census on CDrom....in 1881 there were two Iley families in Cumberland, one in Workington and the other in Canonby.....the Workington one had migrated from Wolsingham in Weardale County Durham, but the Canonby lot (your lot?) had been there at least prior to the 1820s...however in 1881 there were only 345 Ileys in the whole country and 220 of them lived in County Durham...a few more lived on Tyneside (Northumberland) a chunk more on Teeside (yorkshire)a group in Nothamptonshire another in London and another in Somerset...so it looks as if we all come from the Weardale area.....mucho sadness to me as I'm a raving Newcastle fan!!!! Anyway...get in touch by email and I'm sure we can progress our lineage further
All the best
Jim
