Hi Melissa,
I'm also trying to make an Iley/Watson/Fant connection. My gr.gr.grandfather, Joseph Patterson Fant had a brother Iley Watson Fant (1841-1862) who died in the Civil War.
Here are a few names and dates that may help us figure out family connections. These Watsons and Joiners were from South Carolina.
Generation 1: John Watson + _____ Fanny
Generation 2: Mary Watson (1765-1807) + William Joiner (1759-1840)
Generation 3: Mary Watson Joiner (1801-1847) + Samuel M. Fant (1800-1857)
Generation 3: Joseph Patterson Fant (1829-1899)+ Mary Childress (1846-1915)------- Iley Watson Fant, and other siblings were in this generation. This is the first generation that I can find that uses the name "Iley."
