Here is a link to the Illinois state databases from the state archives. It is free. It has the old vital records on it.

If you go to www.familysearch.org (a site of the Mormon Church's genealogy program) you can get searches of the 1880 US census for free. Someone born in 1874 would be on it if the family were still in the US.

Will County, Illinois, has an excellent county website with maps and charts. They are downloadable for free.

Will County, Illinois might not be the only Will County in the US. Some county names show up as county names in other states, too.
