Glad this is on the right track. Unfortunately, I don't know of any family connection I have to them, and thus no additional info. I did see online that the Mary Fay Smith Genealogy Library in Carmi has family files in their holdings for Elliott, Walker, and Higginson in addition to other records bearing the Elliott or Walker surname. They also have period maps with landowners. They also have a lot of microfiche as well as publications with extracted transcripts from the Carmi papers, going back to the 1800s.

The book I found the obituaries for my Jordan ancestors and for Hannah Jones was
"Gone But Not Forgotten: Extracts of obituaries and death notices from White County, Illinois, area newspapers" by Verla Fleck Young.

They have it in Carmi, though I've not been to that library before. I went to the Newberry in Chicago which had a copy of it. Not sure what other libraries in Illinois might carry it. There is also a newspaper extract book by a Carmi newspaper editor or publisher or owner... The Backward Book by Barry Cleveland.

Hope this might help. Good luck.
